phpMyAdmin - web interface to MySQL
phpMyAdmin - web interface to MySQL

phpMyAdmin is a web application written in PHP for MySQL database administration.
Prerequisites: MySQL, Apache, PHP

Install prerequisites:
On FreeBSD:
http://caffetine.org/freebsd-amp.php
On Windows:
Apache on Windows, MySQL on Windows, PHP on Windows

Install phpMyAdmin:
On FreeBSD:
cd /usr/ports/databases/phpmyadmin && make install clean
Manually (any platform):
Download phpMyAdmin, unzip in the Apache Document Root folder (or use the Alias configuration option in Apache if you want to use another folder).
Optionally rename the extracted phpMyAdmin-x.y.z folder to a name easier to rename, let's say phpmyadmin.

Configure phpMyAdmin:
cd to the phpMyAdmin directory, which is /usr/local/www/phpMyAdmin/ if you installed the FreeBSD port.
cp libraries/config.default.php config.inc.php
Edit config.inc.php:
$cfg['blowfish_secret'] = 'whateverjunkyoucanimagineinlessthan46chars';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'cookie'; // Authentication method (valid choices: config, http, HTTP, signon or cookie)
Try to access http://localhost/phpadmin.
You should see the phpMyAdmin login page, without any warning or error messages.
